Horai (also spelled Hora) refers to the planetary hours – divisions of daylight ruled by different planets in sequence. Each Horai has a unique mantra invoking that planet’s ruling deity.

Understanding Horai Timing

Horais divide the daylight period (sunrise to sunset) into 7 segments that repeat cyclically through the day and night. Unlike muhurtas (fixed offsets), Horai length scales with the actual daylight duration – so it changes with the season and your location, which is why Anudinam calculates it from your set location’s real sunrise/sunset.
